This week in Cherries, as part of our Stone Age topic, we have produced some lovely Stonehenge artwork.
We used paint to create a sunset wash and then cut out stone shapes using black paper, to look like a silhouette of Stonehenge.

In Cookery Club this week we made our own pizzas and garlic breads! We had a selection of toppings which we were all keen to try and we used bagels as a pizza base. The finished pizzas looked amazing! We hope everyone enjoyed their tasty treat!
It’s been a quiet week in Flourish club with only two children. This week we had lots of fun making Halloween crispy cakes. The children were able to follow instructions in the correct order to successfully make their yummy cakes! They used the microwave independently to melt the chocolate and were able to use their fine motor skills to scrape the mixture into the cake cases.
This week in Acorns our Maths work has been all about the numbers 1, 2 and 3. We have been looking for the numerals in the environment, and making representations of the numbers in different ways.
We have read stories linked to groups of three, including The Three Little Pigs and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We made story maps to retell the stories, and designed some strong and sturdy bridges!
Next we are looking forward to building houses for the Three Little Pigs!
This week in Maples the children have been using their username and passwords to log into their purple mash accounts and navigate around Mini Mash. The children all thoroughly enjoying discovering different things including games and craft activities. A lovely session!
In French this week, as part of our work on Les vêtements, we listened to a song involving different types of clothes and colours and then translated the song from French to English.
Well, we couldn’t get the song out of our heads so here it is for you all. Enjoy!

Last week we planned and carried out an investigation into heart rate.
We explored what heart rate is and how it can can be measured. We found different ways of finding our pulse and calculating our Beats Per Minute (BPM)
We looked at some ways heart rate increased, how to stay fit and healthy as well as made some predictions about what would raise our heart rate the most.
We then planned an investigation to answer a question we created and chose 4 different exercises to carry out (walking, running, hopping and even burpees). We created our method, made predictions enjoyed our exercise, each time measuring our increased heart rate.
Afterwards we discussed our findings and compared the results to our predictions and concluded what this told us.

This week in Cookery Club we made yummy chocolate flapjacks. We carefully measured all our ingredients and learned how to safely melt things in the microwave. Great team work everyone! Next week we’ll be making Bagel Pizzas!
This week, Cherries have been painting in art.
We integrated with Willows, from main school, to use water colours. We mixed the paints to create new colours based on the colours used by famous artists in famous paintings.
Also, we have been creating a winter background wash, using blues and whites. These will be used for our Cauliflower Card designs which parents will get the chance to buy on mugs and Christmas cards next month.
Look at the lovely photos below of us painting our winter washes.
In Maples we are always trying to find ways in which the children can learn through play and satisfy their sensory need. This week we tested our fine motor skills by transferring water from one container to another with a sponge and we took part in a sensory dig in maths searching for numbers which we used to create and answer simple sums. The children loved it and all worked so hard.
