Over the last few weeks, a PE coach called Darryl has been working with Cherries to teach them cricket skills. The children have had great fun improving their catching and batting skills.
In RE this week, we have started learning about the Christmas Nativity story.
We began by finding out who Mary and Joseph were and how the Angel Gabriel visited them to tell them the news that Mary would be having the son of God, Jesus.
We made small paper models of Angel Gabriel and used Mary and Joseph puppets to retell the beginning of the nativity story.
This week in Science, Cherries carried out an experiment where we cleaned dirty 1p and 2p coins. We used a variety of household liquids, like brown sauce, mayonnaise, floor cleaner etc to clean the coins. We predicted which we thought would work best and then tested to reach a conclusion. We found anything containing vinegar cleaned the coins perfectly.

This week in Science, Cherries made a solar power oven. We then experimented with wrapping the oven in different materials to see if this had an impact on the temperature inside. We measured the temperature using a thermometer and found out that tin foil made the oven even hotter, when the sun shone down to increase the solar energy.
Cherries had a fantastic day at Arbeia, the Roman Fort, in South Shields.
We have learned lots about the Romans and what went on at the fort over 1000 years ago. We loved digging for artefacts and deciding what each item would have been used for.
Everyone was so well behaved and made us all so proud of their listening and hard work.
