Throughout the school year we will be continuing to develop the children’s learning through a broad and balanced curriculum.  In English, we use a text-based approach where this allows us to develop their Reading and Writing skills in a meaningful and interesting way.  For Maths, we use a CPA approach to deepen understanding and address misconceptions so that all children become fluent with key skills then with their reasoning and problem solving. In Year 4, we will be working with 4 digit numbers. Science follows the Year 4 National Curriculum and includes topics such as the Digestive System and Electricity. We encourage the children to apply their scientific skills and knowledge through enquiry and investigation.  Each half term, we have either a Geography or History subject specific topic and link Art and D.T. skills to that.  Our first History topic for the first half term is Ancient Egypt.  The children have PE twice a week and they will learn as variety of skills as well as working together as a team.

We will regularly update the page with news and events that take place in our class.  Our Year 4 team this year comprises of Mrs Storey, Miss Tod and Miss Shakesby.
