This week in Rowan’s the children have explored mixing the primary colours of yellow and blue and identified that it made green. Well done!
This week in Art the children selected colours and foam roller to make print patterns for the tentacles of their Octopuses. The children then added eyes, a mouth and tentacles to the body to create colourful octopuses. Well done Rowans
A super duper first week back after half term. This week in maths we have been building numbers to 20 and counting beyond 20. We have also been adding by counting on and using our number bonds. In phonics we have been reading and writing +ng and +ph words. We have also enjoyed playing in the sand pit and drawing sea creatures.
Well done everyone!
This week in computing the children in Rowans created an under the sea animal on Purple Mash. Well done everyone.
In art this week we looked at portraits of past Monarchs. We discussed how the Monarchs may have posed and talked about objects we could see in their portraits such as crowns, swords and a sceptre. We then took photos of the children posing just like a Monarch of their choice.
This week we studied photographs of animals very closely and then designed and made some animal masks. We worked really carefully to recreate the features of the animals.
Can you guess what we are?
This week in art the children listened to a video that explained the different patterns that animals have on their bodies with spots and stripes. The children then chose an animal and created a pattern. Well done everyone!
In Chestnuts our art topic is ‘Mixed Media’ and this week we have been making paper. The children used newspaper and scrap tissue paper to make their own paper and enjoyed turning into a pulp before squeezing all the water out. Now we just have to wait for it to dry!
This week Birches created their own abstract art after looking at examples. We chose a pencil portrait and traced it, selecting certain lines to create an abstract effect. We’ve been quite impressed by the results!
In art the children explored artwork by Giuseppe Arcimboldo, who created faces out of fruit. The children then painted their own basket and selected colours to paint the fruits. They look amazing, well done everyone!
