As part of our French lessons, Sycamores have been learning how to tell the time. We first recapped the times in English using small clocks before discussing the language for hour in French. The children became more and more confident in speaking the time in French before we began to write the time in sentences. Great work Sycamores!

In French this week, as part of our work on Les vêtements, we listened to a song involving different types of clothes and colours and then translated the song from French to English.
Well, we couldn’t get the song out of our heads so here it is for you all. Enjoy!

This week we had great fun getting out the bikes, trikes and scooters and working together to make them shiny and clean!
We filled our buckets with soapy water and used sponges, cloths and wipers to clean the vehicles.
We read the story ‘Wow Said the Owl’ and explored our favourite colours. Everyone contributed to a beautiful display on our classroom wall. In the story there was a rainbow, so we discussed how rainbows appear and even sang a French song ‘Arc-en-Ciel’, which taught us how to say the names of colours in French.

We had lots of fun outdoors, including investigating water, developing our number skills with the giant dominoes, and learning how to use tools safely and competently.
We’ve also enjoyed some delicious school meals, and joined in with our daily ‘Wake up Shake up’ sessions.

This week we have spent lots of time outdoors and created a classroom outside and we did most of our science and history work out there. In science we built houses and then tested to see if they would hold up in the wind and rain. The paper straw house did not survive.
Recently we have been very interested in London so to move on we had a French afternoon and looked at Paris. We looked at all of the landmarks, found it on the map and even tried some French food.
In French this week we been continuing our French topic: j’habite
We have been writing our own sentences in French telling the story of the little blue ball who keeps hiding.
We used our knowledge of places around the home, common places to visit and prepositions to create our own comic strips.
Sycamores and Acorns really enjoyed listening to the story, ‘le petit caméléon’ during buddy time. They joined in with memorable phrases and learnt lots of new French vocabulary! We were very happy when le petit caméléon was found under the rainbow which inspired a French song about the rainbow! Très bien!
