Supporting children’s health this winter:
The North East and North Cumbria Child Health and Wellbeing Network have developed a new Healthier Together website and app to support work to reduce pressures experienced within the healthcare system this winter.
Healthier Together is the go-to resource for accessing trusted NHS advice when their baby or child is unwell over the winter. A key ask is to direct parents and carers to download the Healthier Together app which will signpost them to relevant local services when logged in with their details.

To celebrate the end of our ‘Let’s Explore’ topic, we invited parents and carers into class to see all the work we have done, and to enjoy a play session.

This week in Maples we have enjoyed Halloween themed math and phonic work as well as making spooky suncatchers and paper plate ghosts to decorate our class. We particularly enjoyed science this week where we did our first group experiment learning the importance of soap when washing our hands. To end the week and the first half term the children will be enjoying a mini Halloween disco in Maples class.
This week in Oaks we have been exploring a well-known narrative poem: The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes, which was written in 1906 but is based a lot earlier.
We looked at the story within the poem, compared parts, summarised events and even gave our opinions and thoughts at different moments.
We had a great time learning the poem and performing parts of it in small groups. We thought about our volume, tone and pace to make it more interesting. We even recording our performances which can be listened to below using our QR codes.
We were extremely proud of all hard work and really enjoyed learning and performing it.
