This Week in Cherries

30th March 2023Hannah Edgar

In RE we have been learning all about Holy week. We wrote sentences about the days leading up to Easter Sunday and looked at how Christians celebrate Easter.

As part of Autism Acceptance Week and the theme of colour, we went over to Willows to design yellow butterflies to be part of a whole school display. We then wrote acrostic poems using positive adjectives to describe people.

To end the Rocks, Relics and Rumbles topic we looked as tsunamis and how they are caused.

For our smelly egg competition we designed some dinosaurs and eggs and created a display with our volcanoes.

We had our final Kidsafe session and were all awarded certificates.

This Week in Hollies

20th January 2023A Hutchinson

16.01.23-20.01.23

This week in Hollies the children have completed a variety of phonics and maths work. In science we learnt about hibernation and made a cozy den for brown bear to hibernate in. In Art we looked at different lines and shapes and tried to make our own. In geography we looked at a map of the UK, putting all the pieces back together and even found where we live.

A Great First Week Back!

13th January 2023S Wilkinson

The children in Maples have had a fantastic first week back. In Phonics they have been learning new sounds including ‘j’, ‘oa’ and alternative pronunciations for ‘a’. In Maths the children have completed some repeating patterns and counting. In Science, we have begun our work on Materials and as a group matched pictures of materials to their names. In Geography, we looked at what a globe is and what it represents and have enjoyed practicing our kicking skills in PE.

Take a look at some of the fun we have had!

Awards

JeLa: Player of the Session in PE

ElNi: Star of the Week for always trying hard with any challenges he faces and always willing to give it a go!

First Week Back in Rowans 16/1/23

13th January 2023A Barnes

This week in Rowan’s class we started our new topic of Long Ago. This week we have been focusing on the story of the Tiger Who Came to Tea. In phonics we learnt a new sound +k, practiced writing the sound and practiced spelling and writing words with our new sound.

In history we explored the topic of Long Ago and watched a video learning about things that have happened in the past. We then looked at photos of what we had completed the previous day.

In science we have started learning about our bodies and we were able to label parts of the body on a diagram. We also explored the changes in the natural world including the seasons. We listened to the story of One Year with Kipper and then matched pictures to the correct season.
