The children in Rowans enjoyed a trip to the local park. They showed great social skills and great behaviour when out in the community. Well done everyone!

This morning, the children in Maples class enjoyed exploring our local area and environment, and they found lots of things including insects, metros, trains, trees and cars.
The children also enjoyed some lovely time on our local park. See how much fun they had!
Cherries and Pines visited Marsden beach with Tides of Change to build a shelter, search for sea life and play some sand games. Even though the weather was very wet and rainy we didn’t let that deter us from finding some crabs, jellyfish, periwinkles and sea anemones in the rock pools. Discussing fossils, the danger of the cliffs, finding sea glass and digging in the sand.
A very wet, but great visit!
Cherries and Pines enjoyed some integrated child initiated learning in the sun today. They were excellent at sharing resources, waiting their turn and respecting boundaries for children who didn’t want to get wet.
Over the last week, all classes have been considering this years theme for Mental Health Awareness Week: anxiety.
All children can describe anxious feelings and give examples of times they have felt this way. We understand, at times, anxiety is a normal human emotion and speaking to a trusted adult is good when we experience these types of feelings.
Children produced thought bubbles; suggesting many excellent ways to overcome and manage anxiety. Hopefully, these ideas can help us all, in the future.
Chestnuts have had a fantastic day at The Great North Museum (Hancock) in Newcastle.
We have learned lots about Ancient Egypt and were wowed by the real artefacts, especially the mummified bodies on display! We will follow up this learning over the next few weeks in class.
The children’s behaviour was perfect! We even received an email to school from a Metro passenger, saying how polite and well-behaved the children had been whilst travelling. All staff and children feel very proud! ☺️
In RE we have been learning all about Holy week. We wrote sentences about the days leading up to Easter Sunday and looked at how Christians celebrate Easter.
As part of Autism Acceptance Week and the theme of colour, we went over to Willows to design yellow butterflies to be part of a whole school display. We then wrote acrostic poems using positive adjectives to describe people.
To end the Rocks, Relics and Rumbles topic we looked as tsunamis and how they are caused.
For our smelly egg competition we designed some dinosaurs and eggs and created a display with our volcanoes.
We had our final Kidsafe session and were all awarded certificates.
