This week we have been reading ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’. We researched lighthouses and found out that in the past, they were looked after by a lighthouse keeper. Now, they are controlled by computers.
We used our creative skills to build our own lighthouses!
As a school we have raised £69 due to the Coronation art project purchasing tea towels and mugs, this will be used for art projects and resources. Thank you to parents and carers for your support!
Our new topic is ‘On the Beach’.
We will be learning about plants and animals that live near the sea, finding out about weather around the world, investigating ways to stay safe in the water and the sun, and exploring seaside holidays past and present.

This week has been a very busy week in Maples class. The children have continued to learn new phonics sounds across phases 3 and 5 and apply this knowledge to read single words, write words and sentences as well as reading simple sentences. In Maths the children worked on their own individual targets including one step subtraction problems, counting and addition using counters and a tens frame. In Science the children ordered the lifecycle of a frog and could describe what happens. In History, we have been learning about King Alfred the Great and have used what we have learned to write sentences about him.
A great week of learning in Maples.
See what we have been up to!

In history we have been watching videos about schools in the past, we then had an elocution lesson practising balancing a bean bag on our heads whilst moving around the classroom.
We also had a special visitor in class this week- two lovely rabbits, we were all very gentle and calm around them.
