Birches have been listening to some traditional African music using the djembe drums. We also learned the different ways of hitting the drums and had a go of following some rhythms.
Kate from North East Humanists came to school to talk to us all about what it means to be a Humanist and the three important things humanists try to live by – Being Kind, Asking Questions and Finding Happiness.
This week, Cherries have been painting in art.
We integrated with Willows, from main school, to use water colours. We mixed the paints to create new colours based on the colours used by famous artists in famous paintings.
Also, we have been creating a winter background wash, using blues and whites. These will be used for our Cauliflower Card designs which parents will get the chance to buy on mugs and Christmas cards next month.
Look at the lovely photos below of us painting our winter washes.
This week in Play/Sensory Club, the children have thoroughly enjoyed spending time in the soft play room. They have also enjoyed playing with some sensory toys and fidgets.
Chestnuts had the opportunity to practice their golfing skills at the SEND Golfway Skills Festival at Temple Park. We participated in a range of different golf activities with 31 other schools. The children really enjoyed the morning and were fantastic ambassadors for Fellgate.
In Art this week, the children had to identify the features of a face to create a self portrait. Have a look at how fabulous they are!

In Chestnuts we have been learning about China and this week we located the continent of Asia, the country of China and its capital. The children used atlases, maps and globes to locate China and look at the countries different features. Did you know China borders 14 different countries!
We have had a great first week in Chestnuts Class! We have completed a variety of ‘all about me’ activities. We identified goals for the term, shared our holiday news, collaged a portrait with all the things they like, created an ‘all about me’ poster on purple mash and thought about what makes the feel proud. Keep up the amazing work Chestnuts!
Our new Rowans class have had a marvellous first week. We have welcomed new children who have joined the class for their first week in a new school. It has been lovely to see the children build new connections and take turns and share resources.
We have done lots of moulding, drawing, building and playing whilst exploring all of the areas both indoors and outdoors.
A super duper start to a new school year!
