This week in Rowan’s class we learnt a new sound +b. The children have practiced blending, spelling and writing words that include the sound +b. The children have also continued to consolidate their understanding of GPCs.
The children have explored the changes in the natural world including the seasons, they then matched the season to the correct picture. During integration with Acorns class the children took turns and played lots of fun games such as; monkey business, pig goes pop and my dog has flees.

In Cookery Club this term we have baked some delicious treats! We have made chocolate chip cookies, chocolate brownies, pizza and chocolate crinkle biscuits. The children have used a range of skills including reading a recipe, weighing, measuring and mixing. We are also now experts at washing and drying dishes! We always end our sessions with a short quiz, our favourite one this term was trying to think of a food for every letter of the alphabet!
In our DT lessons Cherries have planned a volcano using a pringles tube, craft materials, newspaper and glue. They have been constructing their volcanoes using paper mache.
The children in Birches have been very creative! They have been creating their own sand art and making their very own beach huts.
Today for Valentine’s Day, the children made a special card. They used handprints, glitter to create their design on the front of their cards and wrote their names on the insert.
Have a look at their beautiful cards!
As part of their art topic Cherries have been learning about ammonites. They used a Styrofoam template of an ammonite, painted it, then used a roller to print the design onto paper.
For Children’s Mental Heath week they connected with people in lots of ways – singing, playing, sharing toys, Lego, hugs to name a few. They also drew their own characters to represent them and what they liked.
Blossoms have really thought this week about how we can connect to others with this year’s theme: ‘Let’s Connect.’ We came up with some great ideas such as smile at others, sing, give them a hug or ask if they are doing OK. For our work in class, we designed paper chains and on each paper chain, we drew anything that was special to us (such as special people, interests, food) and it really showed ways that we can be connected to others.

This week in DT the children explored different ways to make things move. They had a go at creating a lever movement mechanism and a linkages mechanism using split pins.
All of the groups worked really well together; each of the children taking it in turns to carry out different tasks.
