This week we have been learning about Chinese New Year. We all listened well to the story and worked as a class to order the animals in the order they won the race. We all enjoyed tasting Chinese food and were great at using our communication skills to say if we ‘liked’ or ‘disliked’ the foods. We have also enjoyed watching dragon dances and had great fun using chopsticks!
In maths we have been learning about ‘heavy’ and ‘light’, we used symbols to label the balance scales. In DT we have enjoyed investigating wheels and found that lots of the toys we play with every day have wheels on them!
Lots of great investigation work in Pines this week!
This week we have been focusing on the story of the The Three Little Pigs. The children loved joining in with this story! We have sequenced the story by creating a story map. We also have used colourful semantics to describe what is happening in the story. In art we created a collage to represent the three houses and identified each material. We also identified the shapes needed to create the houses. We had lots of fun following instructions to build our own houses using duplo blocks and stickle bricks.
Well done Rowans, a super duper week.

Willows had a great day on their visit to The Word. We travelled by Metro and the children were so sensible whilst being out and about.
They took part in making Christmas decorations using the paint software to create their designs. Once the designs were saved the children got to go and watch them being cut out with the laser cutter!
For their second activity they created an animated Christmas scene using Scratch coding. They were all brilliant!
This week the children had their Christmas performance which was a called a Wriggly Nativity. Well done to all the children who took part in the performance, they were super duper! And a special shout out to Rowans, you were little superstars and we are so proud of you!!!
A massive thank you to everyone who came and supported us.
