The children in Maples have had lots of fun completing Easter activities this week. They have completed some Easter maths work, made some delicious chocolate nests, made Easter cards and created their own Mr Men for our whole school Smelly Egg competition.
Today the children had a special McDonalds treat to celebrate all the hard work they have completed this term and completed an chocolate egg hunt which was left for them by the Easter bunny.

As part of our DT topic the children in Maples have used wood to build their own beach hut. They used a junior saw to cut the wood to the correct size, sandpaper to smooth the edges and then a glue gun to stick all of the pieces of wood together. They were all amazing and super sensible, we are very proud of them!
As part of our Geography work, the children have used sand and water to demonstrate coastal erosion.
As part of our DT topic, the children have been using different materials to construct beach huts. They used materials such as construction tubes, magnetic squares and stickle bricks.

The children have enjoyed World Book Day today. For some of our children they chose to dress as their favourite book characters. They have enjoyed exploring and reading new books and took part in our whole school book swap.

Today for Valentine’s Day, the children made a special card. They used handprints, glitter to create their design on the front of their cards and wrote their names on the insert.

We have had a very busy week in Maples. In Phonics the children have consolidated their phonics knowledge and have been confidently reading various words and phrases. In maths the children have been working hard on their individual targets, including counting, place value and adding one more. In Science we conducted an experiment to see which materials can be stretched, bent, twisted or squashed. The children thoroughly enjoyed this! It has also been children’s mental health week and the children have been looking at who is important to them and have created their own artwork showing the important people who link to them.

In Maples the children have listened to the story of Hanni and the Magic Window. They then created their own magic windows using pictures of characters and TV shows they enjoy.

The children in Maples have been learning all about Chinese New Year and the year of the rabbit. As part of their learning, the children made red envelopes and Chinese Lanterns.
This week the children have thoroughly enjoyed spending time and exploring our new Sensory Room.
