A Great First Week Back!

The children in Maples have had a fantastic first week back. In Phonics they have been learning new sounds including ‘j’, ‘oa’ and alternative pronunciations for ‘a’. In Maths the children have completed some repeating patterns and counting. In Science, we have begun our work on Materials and as a group matched pictures of materials to their names. In Geography, we looked at what a globe is and what it represents and have enjoyed practicing our kicking skills in PE.

Our Special Visitor!

This afternoon the children in Maples have had a very special visitor: Tinsel the Elf. She brought some special presents from Santa. The children were very excited!!

Today the children in Maples and Hollies have thoroughly enjoyed their winter warmer session with Sandra from Tides of Change. The children were super excited and super sensible, following instructions and listening carefully.

We Got Mail!

Hollies and Maples had a special visit from Amanda with some letters addressed to the children. Santa has replied to our letters! We enjoyed opening our letters and reading the lovely message from Santa, Mrs Claus, the reindeer and the elves.

Bagel Pizzas!

Today the children in Maples and Hawthorns have enjoyed making bagel pizzas as part of their DT work. They used different tools to spread the pizza sauce and added either cheese or ham or both to make their delicious pizzas. They looked amazing once they were cooked!

Letters to Santa

On Tuesday the children from Hollies and Maples wrote their letters to Santa explaining what they want for Christmas.

Today the children enjoyed a walk to the postbox to send their letters to Santa and his elves in the North Pole. They are excited to receive their replies. Hopefully they come soon!

What Tools Do We Use?

As part of our DT topic, Maples and Hawthorns have been exploring what cookery tools they would need to use to complete different tasks. They explored different tools including a masher, rolling pin, wooden spoon and various cutlery using sensory materials including playdoh and rice.

We Are Kind Friends!

This week in Maples the children have been learning all about Anti-bullying week. We began the week with Odd Sock Day which the children really enjoyed, especially seeing what their friends were wearing.

The children have been discussing who they would reach out to if they someone was being unkind or if their friends were sad because someone had been unkind.

We have also celebrated Children In Need. The children have completed some Pudsey Maths work and used Purple Mash to paint their own Pudsey Bears.

Star of the Week: This was awarded to ElNi for always being a kind friend.

Players of the Session: In PE this week FrMe and BeSh received this award for following instructions really carefully.

Attendance: 99%.

Integration Fun!

As part of Remembrance Week, the children from Maples and Hawthorns came together to complete some DT work. Using icing sugar, red food colouring, digestive biscuits and chocolate buttons, they decorated poppy biscuits.

The children then planted their poppies into the whole school poppy garden.
