Eggsellent Easter Fun in Pines…

30th March 2023L Calder

We had great fun this week reading more Supertato books this week so decided to create our Easter eggs for the competition based on the characters from the stories. Everyone chose their own character using symbols and created their egg- aren’t they great!

For our Easter cards we practised printing with sponges to create different effects.

In phonics we had to put together the broken Easter eggs by reading the word and matching it to the picture- we did an excellent job!

To end our money topic in maths this week we had a trip to the shop to buy a treat. All children were super stars! They could identify some coins and were able to wait in the queue to be served and hand the money over to the shop keeper. We enjoyed our treat back at school as a social snack together.

Happy Easter!

World Maths Day in Pines

26th March 2023L Calder

We started the day for World Maths Day by going to the sensory room and playing maths games on the interactive activity mat, we threw the musical dice and counted the numbers and enjoyed looking through sensory shapes.

In English we counted characters from the Supertato stories and at  snack time we enjoyed paying for our snack at the ‘Pines Shop’. Everyone did an excellent job selecting the correct coin and practising handing over money to the ‘shop keeper’.

In our art lesson we created a heart picture copying the style of artist Piet Mondrian using lines to make squares and rectangles to colour in using primary colours.

We all really enjoyed using maths in all of our lessons for World Maths Day!

For World Book day we started the day by listening to and reading the story ‘A Teddy bear’s Picnic’. We created our own book marks and book pictures using our cutting and sticking skills. We enjoyed some paired reading with the children in Blossoms class and each chose a book to take home form the book swap.

10th February 2023L Calder

This week in Pines for children’s mental health week we were learning about how we all connect. We have also enjoyed watching dragon dances and had great fun using chopsticks!
