This Week in Pines…

This week in Pines we have enjoyed exploring musical instruments! We practised playing fast and slow drum beats and loud and quiet beats!

In history we have been watching videos about schools in the past, we then had an elocution lesson practising balancing a bean bag on our heads whilst moving around the classroom.

We also had a special visitor in class this week- two lovely rabbits, we were all very gentle and calm around them.

This Week in Maples!

This week the children in Maples have continued to learn new phase 5 and phase 3 sounds during their phonics lessons and have been using this knowledge to not only read words but also write them. During Maths the children continued to work on their own individual targets including counting, addition and subtraction. In Music the children enjoyed spending time with their friends from Hawthorns and sang some lovely friendship songs. They have also been learning how to use a cricket bat and ball during PE and matched mothers and their babies during Science.

Fee Fi Fo Fum

This week the children have been reading the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. In science we listened to the story of Jasper’s Beanstalk and then planted and water our own beans. In P.E the children have continued to practice throwing a ball into a target. As part of computing the children have been practicing moving and clicking the mouse to score points on purple mash. Finally, in music the children have been learning the words to Old MacDonald.

Well done Rowans!

Music in Blossoms

This half term we have been studying the Charanga topic ‘Make you Feel my Love.’  We have learnt about the style of song and have heard other examples of ballads as well as discussing the timbre and texture of the songs.  We then learnt about the structure of the song by Adele and performed it within class.  Finally, Blossoms added some instrumental sections through the use of glockenspiels; we used two notes and ensured we counted 4 beats in a bar.
