Following on from our rock hunt, this week in Cherries we have tested rocks to see if they are hard or soft and if they float or sink.
Following on from our rock hunt, this week in Cherries we have tested rocks to see if they are hard or soft and if they float or sink.
Our topic this half term is Rocks, Relics and Rumbles and in science we are learning all about rocks. Cherries went on a rock hunt around school finding different types of rocks.
This week Cherries have written some new year’s resolutions. They thought of one for at home and at school and have been eager to try and stick with them, telling us each day if they have. Great work!

In the lead up to Christmas Cherries have been up to some fun festive things. We integrated with Willows to make our Christmas cards and calendars.
We enjoyed wearing our Christmas jumpers for Christmas jumper day and learning about India in Willows.
We enjoyed watching the snow falling.
We went to watch the pantomime Dick Wittington.
We enjoyed a McDonalds for lunch as a treat, completed a Christmas quiz with Willows.
And enjoyed a pyjama movie afternoon getting comfy and cosy in class.
This week Cherries wrote some letters to Santa. Take a look at some of their fantastic writing.
The past few weeks Cherries have been reading Stone Age Boy. This week they did some great character descriptions of Om and the boy from the story. They described clothing, hair and even facial expressions to say how the character was feeling and why.

In Cherries to celebrate the men’s World Cup starting we chose 3 teams in the school sweepstake and coloured and designed their flags. Can you guess which 3 countries?
We also used a world map to locate and colour the teams.
We designed our own football strips.
We also watch the England game and celebrated their goals with cheers!
This week Willows and Cherries classes came together as part of their history topic- Through the Ages.
The children used their knowledge of tri-spiral art created by the Celts to produce their own artwork in the same style.
Take a look at them at work!
When learning about the Bronze Age, Cherries have been making and designing their own clay pots. They used great rolling, squeezing and pinching actions then used tools to put designs into their pots.
Willows then joined us for some integration and we created Celtic Art designs from the Iron Age. We drew spirals, knots and key patterns.
This week in Cherries we have learned all about Remembrance Day. We learned all about its importance, when it is, when it started and why we wear poppies. We also learned about the different coloured poppies and their meanings.
We made some of our own poppies and displayed them on our classroom windows, if you’re walking past you might have seen them!
