In Oaks this week we began by writing negative reviews of either a restaurant, theme park or activity centre. We wrote these in the style of reviews on websites such as Trip Advisor and thoroughly enjoyed bringing out our dark side!
We then changed roles in our following piece and wrote a formal response to our complaint in the role of the manager of the restaurant, theme park or activity centre. We really enjoyed exploring and using formal language. Some of the children used some truly outstanding word choices and we completely convincing in their roles.

This week the children in Rowans attended a workshop which is based on the book Kitchen Disco. The children had lots of fun and absolutely loved the show.
Chestnuts class really enjoyed visiting Simonside Climbing Wall this morning. They climbed different types of walls and also tried some of the clip and climb walls too. The children even got a chance to belay in small groups with supervision. What a great morning! We definitely have some budding climbers in Chestnuts!
Thank you to the staff at Simonside climbing wall, you were wonderful!
The children thoroughly enjoyed the Winter Warmer Session with Sandra from Tides of Change. The children learned how to make a spark using a flint and toasted marshmallows to make smores. In the words of one of the children, Sandra is a “total professional.” A fabulous morning!
This week in Rowans the children have been learning about the Hindu festival of light called ‘Diwali’. The children have created colourful Rangoli patterns and also made Diya lamps made out of clay! They look amazing! Well done everyone.
