Birches class experimented with sand and water to show the process of erosion.
Sycamores having been studying Inuit art and the techniques used. We created our own prints by cutting out images of animals to use as stencils, then painted over them. We explored using different tools such as sponges, rollers and brushes. Some of us began to experiment with different colours to see which ones contrasted well. They look fantastic!
Sycamores are really enjoying learning to dance in PE this term! We are learning a routine to a very upbeat track, so we are working hard on developing strategies to support us keeping in time with the music. Our routine involves a question and answer section as well as a canon! We love learning the new moves each week and adding them to the steps we already know. We can’t wait to see what the finished routine will look like!
In Maples the children have listened to the story of Hanni and the Magic Window. They then created their own magic windows using pictures of characters and TV shows they enjoy.
Take a look at their creations!

This week the children have explored the story of Rosie’s Hat. The children created a story map and used colour semantics to describe what was happening in the pictures. In phonics the children have been learning the new sound of ‘u’. In maths some of the children have been completing number bond activities to 10, 2d shapes and ABC patterns. As part of history the children planned activities for an afternoon using time, such as ‘first’, ‘then’ and ‘next’. Then on the next day they looked back at what activities they had planned on the afternoon and used the vocabulary of ‘yesterday’. As part of science the children have been identifying eyes and noses and there functions.

In our Art lesson this week, Blossoms have been using white chalk on black paper to create light and dark. We used the shading techniques we had learnt to give the illusion that the paper was changing from dark to light. It was quite tricky with the chalk compared to shading pencils but Blossoms rose to the challenge!
