In art this half term the children have sculpted and painted ammonites. They had to use various clay work techniques and have produced some very realistic ammonites!
The children in Birches have been very creative! They have been creating their own sand art and making their very own beach huts.
Today for Valentine’s Day, the children made a special card. They used handprints, glitter to create their design on the front of their cards and wrote their names on the insert.
Have a look at their beautiful cards!
As part of their art topic Cherries have been learning about ammonites. They used a Styrofoam template of an ammonite, painted it, then used a roller to print the design onto paper.
For Children’s Mental Heath week they connected with people in lots of ways – singing, playing, sharing toys, Lego, hugs to name a few. They also drew their own characters to represent them and what they liked.
Willows had a go at making some two-tone prints in their art lesson this week.
To link with their geography topic, they carved ammonites into polystyrene tiles and then used printing rollers and paint to produce some wonderful designs!
Sycamores have been researching famous Inuit artists such as Kenojuak Ashevak, Jessie Oonark and David Ruben Piqtoukun. We chose some of our favourite designs and used the ipads to create a mood board of inspiration for our own art pieces.
Sycamores having been studying Inuit art and the techniques used. We created our own prints by cutting out images of animals to use as stencils, then painted over them. We explored using different tools such as sponges, rollers and brushes. Some of us began to experiment with different colours to see which ones contrasted well. They look fantastic!
In our Art lesson this week, Blossoms have been using white chalk on black paper to create light and dark. We used the shading techniques we had learnt to give the illusion that the paper was changing from dark to light. It was quite tricky with the chalk compared to shading pencils but Blossoms rose to the challenge!
We have just started our new topic: Frozen Kingdoms!
In art this week we looked at different types and styles of artwork we will be doing in the next few weeks. These pieces of art work will be inspired by Inuit art. Be sure to keep an eye out for more in the following weeks.
This week we started creating our own stencils which celebrate arctic animals. Once we created out stencils we experimented with our own unique designs. Although we are not yet finished, some are already looking incredible.
