Watercolour Art

16th December 2022G Mills

To become better artists, Chestnuts have been painting using watercolours.

We have been using different colour pallets to show different moods and feelings. For example, lots of blues to show sadness and red to show anger.

We even mixed different paints to create our own new colours.

Using the watercolours was not easy, but we tried our very best!

Casting Techniques

24th November 2022Natalie Thompson

In art, this term, we are exploring the art of the Taotie motif. Today, we started to develop the key techniques we would use to create a Taotie motif of our own. We used clay, plaster of paris and plasticine to create casting moulds.

Celtic Art

23rd November 2022A Tod

This week Willows and Cherries classes came together as part of their history topic- Through the Ages.

The children used their knowledge of tri-spiral art created by the Celts to produce their own artwork in the same style.

Take a look at them at work!

Prehistoric Art

23rd November 2022H Warburton

When learning about the Bronze Age, Cherries have been making and designing their own clay pots. They used great rolling, squeezing and pinching actions then used tools to put designs into their pots.

Willows then joined us for some integration and we created Celtic Art designs from the Iron Age. We drew spirals, knots and key patterns.

Bronze Age Art

21st November 2022A Tod

As part of their art curriculum, Willows were challenged to make a Bell Beaker pot using clay. They have learnt about the Beaker folk who came over from Europe, at the start of the Bronze Age, and brought with them pots that look like upside down bells!

The children used their knowledge of this piece of history and their artistic flair to create beautifully detailed bell beaker pots. Once they have fully dried the children will paint them.

Have a look at their designs so far…
