Cherries Autumn 2

16th December 2020H Warburton

This half term Cherries topic has been Let’s Celebrate!

We have learned about bonfire night and read the story Sparks Fly in Literacy. We made our own firework pictures on the computer and with paint by dipping and twist toilet roll holders.

Our next celebration was Remembrance day, we completed poppy jigsaws, painted cake cases to make poppies and used red icing and chocolate buttons to make poppy biscuits.

We then learned about Diwali and read the story Dipal’s Diwali. We sequenced the story and used colourful semantics to make sentences about the story. We made Diva Lamps and explored lights and scents in Science.

We then celebrated Christmas and read the story Ten Little Lights. We were excellent as identifying the animals either verbally or using symbols. We also had great fun helping to decorate our class Christmas tree!

A very busy half term.

Reading skills

24th October 2020l Mitchinson

Blueberries love stories so we have been using different approaches to help us understand texts even better. We used different pictures from the story ‘The Lonely Beast’ to make predictions about what would happen, then used Colourful Semantics to help develop our vocabulary and understanding of characters and events.

Oranges Autumn Term 1

24th October 2020A Barnes

We have had a fabulous and fun filled first half term back at school where we have explored our topic ‘All About Me’. We have been busy reading, writing, completing maths and phonics activities.

In science we have completed lots of experiments using our sensors. We particularly enjoyed seeing the changes that occurred to a fizzy bottle when we added mints. We watched and listened as corn kernels popped into popcorn just like in the book Bear Snores On and we commented on how the changes occurred through heat and the corn expanded.

In art we have been learning all about the primary colours. We have also been learning what colours to mix to make secondary colours. We have explored making art with a variety of materials. We have made amazing rainbow collages using tissue paper. We have also had lots of fun using fruit to create pumpkin prints.

In PE with Adam we have been super speedy and have been practicing running to and around different coloured cones. We have also been jumping in hula hoops and over hurdles.

Thank you so much to everyone who was able to contribute to our Harvest collection. We collected an amazing amount of food. We had so much food we had to take two cars to drop it all off!!

Thank you to the two lovely children from Oaks class who helped take the food to Hebburn Helps. You were fantastic ambassadors for the school!

Welcome Willows!

16th September 2020A Tod

We have had a wonderful first week back in Willows. Everyone has settled in really well and has adjusted to the new school routine.

During our first week the children sketched their own self portraits. Their fabulous work is proudly display on our classroom door.

The children have also been writing a character description about themselves, creating an ‘All About Me’ poster and learning about the digestive system. A very busy first few days! Let’s keep up the fantastic attitude 😁

I can’t wait to spend the rest of the year with you all and I am looking forward to getting to know you a little better.

Miss Tod : )
