World Maths Day!

19th March 2021E McGough

This week to celebrate World Maths Day we played guess the number headbands where we had to use our detective skills to work out the number on our heads. We did some art work in the style of Mondrian using lines and the three primary colours. We even enjoyed a game of Monopoly!

Super Storytellers and Christmas Fun!

25th February 2021A Hearn
This half term our topic has been Super Storytellers where we have enjoyed reading lots of different books by our favourite authors. We even wrote letters to our favourite authors and so far we have had two replies, one from J.K. Rowling and one personalised reply from David Walliams himself.
We have had lots of other fun in class too…
We have been practising our sketching skills with our portrait drawings.
We had our own version of ‘I’m a Celebrity get me out of here, with lots of bush tucker trails and a Dingo Dollar quiz!
We made s’mores by the fire which we lit!
Buddy the Elf even paid us a visit and taped up the entrance to our classroom!

Long, Long Ago – Spring 1

11th February 2021A Barnes

We have been working hard from school and at home this term. Our topic this term has been ‘Long, Long Ago’ as we have read traditional tales with a twist.

We have used colourful semantics to retell the story of; ‘The True Story of the Three Little Pigs’, ‘The Billy Goats Fluff’ and ‘The Wolf’s Story: Little Red Riding Hood’.

In maths we have completed a variety of learning activities from counting to number bridges to heavy and light.

We have used straw, sticks and printed bricks to create The Three Little Pigs houses.

We have been planting seeds to grow grass for the Three Billy Goats.

We explored what materials would float and what would sink.

We explored what materials are recyclable and sorted into four categories.

We have had lots of fun in PE this term.

Fun in the snow!

SEND Parent Carer Forum for South Tyneside

29th January 2021A Hearn

A new Parent Carer Forum has been introduced in South Tyneside.

South Tyneside Parent Carer Forum is an independent forum led by parents, for parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with additional support needs and disabilities in South Tyneside. They work in partnership with commissioners and service providers across health, social services and education.

The aim of the Forum is to enable parents and carers to share their knowledge of what works and what doesn’t work so well; to help service providers and commissioners focus their efforts on effective, high quality support. They do this by ensuring that family voices are heard by service planners and decision makers.

They also aim to signpost parents to advice and information, to help them through their journey as carers of a disabled child or young person.

You can find out more about the forum and what they do on their Facebook page. Follow them for updates on what they are doing in the local area to improve SEND services.

Please also remember to like and follow South Tyneside Local offer Facebook page to keep updated of future events.
