Player of the week
This week the children had their Christmas performance which was a called a Wriggly Nativity. Well done to all the children who took part in the performance, they were super duper! And a special shout out to Rowans, you were little superstars and we are so proud of you!!!
A massive thank you to everyone who came and supported us.

As a special treat, Acorns and Sycamores buddies spent the morning together making Christmas decorations. We had lots of fun!
This week in Acorns we have started our Christmas preparations. We put up our Christmas trees, and everyone was invited to bring a bauble from home to add to our mini tree. We have been making Christmas decorations and paper chains, and we decided to build a sleigh for Santa!
In Maths we have been exploring the composition of 10, and looking for representations of 10 around us.
In phonics we have worked hard at our blending and tricky words, and we are trying hard to form our letters correctly.

Every Friday afternoon, Acorns meet up with their buddies in Sycamores and Oaks, for a session of shared reading and singing. It’s a lovely opportunity for classes to come together and enjoy some social time. It really helps to develop social, communication and language skills, and gives the older children a sense of responsibility to look after their Acorns friends.
In Maths this week, Reception have been exploring the number 9. We discovered that it is a square number, and investigated which other numbers are square.
Year 1 have been working hard at addition and using part-whole models.
Another fantastic week in Acorns!

Exploring and creating repeating patterns in Maths

We went on a shape hunt around school
Our phrase of the week is ‘Understand Others’, so we worked together and helped each other to complete some tricky jigsaws.
Reception worked hard in phonics. Look at their writing!
We created collages of crosses for our Inter Faith week work.
We read ‘The Paper Dolls’ by Julia Donaldson, and then worked hard at our cutting skills to create our own!
This week we have been exploring our new topic ‘Marvellous Machines’. We read ‘No-Bot the Robot with no Bottom’ by Sue Hendra, and then designed and built our own robots!
We have also been investigating 2D and 3D shape in maths, and doing lots of phonics, reading and writing.
On Friday we dressed in spots for Children in Need.
