As part of their DT topic, Cook Well, Eatwell, the children in Willows have been preparing and making tacos.
After planning their taco designs and deciding what ingredients were needed, they carefully constructed some wonderful taco creations!

Following on from our initial work on bridges and structures we carried out a range of activities which looked at how to strengthen, stiffen and reinforce structures.
We enjoyed making bridges out of paper, making predictions and testing to see how many 2p coins they could support.
We evaluated our findings and looked at why some folds in paper made the bridges stronger.
We have just started our new topic: Frozen Kingdoms!
In art this week we looked at different types and styles of artwork we will be doing in the next few weeks. These pieces of art work will be inspired by Inuit art. Be sure to keep an eye out for more in the following weeks.
This week we started creating our own stencils which celebrate arctic animals. Once we created out stencils we experimented with our own unique designs. Although we are not yet finished, some are already looking incredible.
Blossoms have enjoyed freeze framing some key scenes from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone as part of our English. They thought about how the characters would be feeling at key moments of the text and used facial expressions and gestures to show these as they couldn’t speak during a freeze frame. We will incorporate these feelings into our informal letters next week.
Our science topic this half term is Rocks.
In their first lesson this week, the children got hands on with some different rock samples.
They were able to study the rocks closely to examine their texture and then matched each rock sample to the correct name.
In DT, Chestnuts have been learning about healthy snacks.
We created our own packaging boxes, using different nets of shapes.
Then, we made and tasted heathy snacks including: hummus and carrot sticks/breadsticks, vegetable crisps, fruit skewers and air-popped popcorn.
Finally, we planned our own healthy snack which we could take to school.
To become better artists, Chestnuts have been painting using watercolours.
We have been using different colour pallets to show different moods and feelings. For example, lots of blues to show sadness and red to show anger.
We even mixed different paints to create our own new colours.
Using the watercolours was not easy, but we tried our very best!
