South Tyneside Parent Carer Forum

28th January 2022A Hearn
South Tyneside Parent Carer Forum is an independent forum led by parents, for parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with additional support needs and disabilities in South Tyneside. We work in partnership with commissioners and service providers across health, social and education services.
The aim of the forum is to enable parents and carers to share their knowledge of what works and what doesn’t work so well; and to help service providers and commissioners focus their efforts on effective, high quality support. We do this by ensuring that family voices are heard by service planners and decision makers. The most important part of what we do is hearing from parent carers and taking that voice forward as a collective to the relevant places.

We also aim to signpost parents to advice and information, to help them through their journey as carers of a disabled child or young person.

Please follow our social media pages and sign up to be a member of the parent carer forum on our website
We want to reach out to and encourage as many parent carers in our area to share their views, please feel free to message us with anything you would like yo share!”

Join The Celebration – Autumn 2

17th December 2021A Barnes

This half term has been filled with lots of fun celebrations and learning about different festivals. We have worked super hard in all of our learning activities. Well done Lemons!!

We listened to the story of sparks in the sky and created a bonfire collage.

To celebrate Diwali we listened to the story of The Best Diwali Ever and created Rangoli patterns and Diya candle holders.

As part of Remembrance Day we listened to an animated poppy story. We made a stain glass collage poppy to proudly display on our class window. We also planted our poppies to create a poppy field.

In art we created a calendar for the four seasons using hand prints and finger paint.

In R.E we listened to the nativity story and created a stain glass nativity scene. We also produced our own nativity play and the children were excellent!

We created angel Christmas cards to send wishes to our parents.

In phonics we worked super hard at sounding and blending CVC words and forming letters. We have been trying very hard to learn some tricky words and finally we have used colourful semantics to explore books and to help construct sentences.

Autumn 2 in Oaks

17th December 2021A Hearn
This half term we have been developing our arithmetic skills as well as our fact retrieval skills when reading to improve our confidence in maths and English. We have developed our knowledge and understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages as well as coordinates and direction.
We have produced some outstanding pieces of writing about anti bullying week, multi faith week and children in Need as we consider the purpose and audience of our work, often selecting the appropriate vocabulary and level of formality.
In science we have enjoyed learning more about blood, how it is transported around the body. We have created models to show how we breathe and looked at different types of blood and why transfusions are sometimes needed. It has been extremely interesting. We have continued our study of North America and looked at time zones, calculating different time differences around the world.
We have enjoyed interrogating with Plums class for P.E, art and design, PSHE (Kidsafe) and design and technology- we even baked our own festive treats in the lifeskills room.
