In Blossoms, we discussed lots about how to stay safe online. We designed posters that suggested ways of staying safe online as well as things we would like to see available. This work also tied in with what we have been learning about in Computing this half term as part of our online safety topic.
In our Art lesson this week, Blossoms have been using white chalk on black paper to create light and dark. We used the shading techniques we had learnt to give the illusion that the paper was changing from dark to light. It was quite tricky with the chalk compared to shading pencils but Blossoms rose to the challenge!
Blossoms have enjoyed freeze framing some key scenes from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone as part of our English. They thought about how the characters would be feeling at key moments of the text and used facial expressions and gestures to show these as they couldn’t speak during a freeze frame. We will incorporate these feelings into our informal letters next week.
This week, Blossoms and Pines have been working together to plan our Christmas fair stall. Today, we created decorative cups for a prize tub game. We decorated cups with glitter and Christmas stickers. The children had a great time supporting each other and even had time for a little bit of dancing.
In art, this term, we are exploring the art of the Taotie motif. Today, we started to develop the key techniques we would use to create a Taotie motif of our own. We used clay, plaster of paris and plasticine to create casting moulds.
In Blossoms, this term, we have been exploring forces in science. In this lesson, we designed and created our own pulley systems and then tested their lifting capabilities using marbles.
