Chestnuts Out and About

1st July 2020Mrs Storey

As well as working hard academically, Chestnuts have also enjoyed being outdoors.  They’ve been exploring lots of different places such as the beach, Hadrian’s wall and Jesmond Dene.  On VE Day, Chestnuts enjoyed their own celebrations and afternoon teas.  Some of them have even been litter picking, camping in the garden, fishing, seeing the 4:30am sunrise and strawberry picking. Well done Chestnuts!

Home Learning with Chestnuts

1st July 2020Mrs Storey

Chestnuts have been working incredibly hard at home since lock down started back in March.  They have been working through their work packs, creating some amazing art work, bringing their learning to life by planting and studying plants, researching their own projects and learning some life skills such as baking.  They have been absolute stars.

Parent guide on chat features in online gaming

30th June 2020A Hearn

THINKUKNOW have teamed up with Ukie (The Association for UK Interactive Entertainment) to give you advice about online games and chat.

While playing games online is often great fun, it’s important you understand why your children will chat online, what risks there are and what measures you can take to protect them while they’re playing their favourite games.

Online games are really popular amongst children. 59% of 5-15 year old’s play online games, as games like Fortnite, Minecraft and Roblox become increasingly important part of their social lives.

While playing games online is often great fun and a good way to chat, there is a chance that your children will play with people they don’t know who may use in-game chat inappropriately to expose them to harm or risk.

That’s why THINKUKNOW have put together this guide to help you understand why your children will chat online, what risks there are and what measures you can take to protect them while they’re playing their favourite games.

Rescuing a blind hamster (now called Rainbow)

Homeschooling Fun!

29th June 2020l Mitchinson

The boys in Cherries have been working and playing hard at home while school is closed. As well as completing their work tasks, they have been trying hard to improve their life skills and independence, doing household chores, cooking with family, decorating the house, working in the garden – they have been really busy! It’s good to have the time to develop those skills important to everyone as they grow up, and I’ve been really proud hearing how the boys are looking after themselves too – getting dressed, cleaning teeth, preparing their own snacks – the list goes on!

Parent Guide to Hidden Photo Apps

26th June 2020A Hearn

National Online Safety:

Keeping our personal and digital content safe should be a priority for everyone. Using passwords and encryption techniques can add extra layers of security. But some apps, which have been specifically designed for this purpose, can be misused or encourage more secretive behaviour, particularly in relation to videos and photos. That’s why National Online Safety has created this guide to help parents and carers understand exactly what these ‘hidden photo apps’ are and to raise an awareness of how and why they might be used by children and young people.

Keeping in Touch!

23rd June 2020A Hearn

Children from our Year 3 classes had a fantastic time joining in a Google Meet with their class teacher and friends.  Everyone was smiling and laughing as they reconnected (virtually) after some time apart. What a happy morning!’
