‘Frog- What’s Up Friend’ is a free social media app aimed at young teens. The terms of service require children to be at least 13 years old to participate, but there are no restrictions in place to ensure this is enforced. Children can also connect to and use features of Snapchat within the app. It’s also possible to purchase in-app currency without asking for parental permission.

This half term in Apples class we have been very busy learning at home! Well done to all our children and parents for trying so hard with their home learning. In Apples class we are always ready to take on a challenge. We have enjoyed getting creative at home and making musical instruments from what we can find in the house! Some of us have been busy baking yummy cakes and others have been keeping active with our parents.
Google and Parent zone have published a family lockdown guide which is full of advice to help parents and carers support your child’s online safety during lockdown and make sure they know to be brave and speak to you if they’re unsure about anything they come across online.
It’s based on Be Internet Brave – a key part of Google and Parent Zone’s Be Internet Legends. Be Internet Legends is a programme that helps seven to 11-year-olds to become safer and more confident online.
Tuesday 9th February is Safer Internet Day which is a globally celebrated event. The theme this year is; ‘An internet we trust: exploring reliability in the online world’.
This year we will be exploring reliability online. The internet has an amazing range of information and opportunities online, but how do we separate fact from fiction? As a school, children will be be focusing on how we can know what to trust online, supporting them to question, challenge and change the online world. We will explore how influence, persuasion and manipulation can impact young people’s decisions, opinions and what they share online.
