The Great Fire of London

29th November 2019J Bell

Maples have been learning all about The Great Fire of London this term. Look at our wonderful work on our display. The children have learnt how to write exclamations and questions. They have described what the fire would have looked like. Throughout the next couple of weeks the children will be adding more writing to the display. Well done Maples you are on Fire!

Spring Term 2 News

24th May 2019V Scott

Our Topic this half term has been ‘Once Upon A Time’ we have explored a new story each week, from fairy tales such as goldilocks and the three bears to well-loved classics such as the bear hunt and the hungry caterpillar. We’ve explored each story through classroom 1:1’s, art work and sensory experiences. These have helped us engage and learn about each character.

Spring Term 1 News

24th May 2019V Scott

Over the last 6 weeks we have really enjoyed learning about the farm. We have focused on a new animal each week and have enjoyed the opportunity to do big at projects as a group creating each animal. Milking a pretend cow was definitely our favourite. We’ve continued to make loads of progress in our PE sessions with Adam which are always fab. We love getting active and running around as much as possible. We’ve had lots of fun in the cold weather especially the snow, even building a snow man! Finally, we’ve been working hard in our 1:1 work and during our independent skills sessions, learning to use a knife and fork to cut soft foods. Hopefully, we’ll be able to transfer these skills to dinner times at home.

Orange Group Spring Term

2nd May 2019V Scott

Orange Group had a lovely half term. We were learning about stories, traditional stories that begin with “Once Upon a Time…”. One of our favourites was ‘The Three Little Pigs’.

We enjoyed reading it, huffing and puffing like the wolf, sorting the different sized objects and exploring/feeling the materials of the houses – straw, sticks, and bricks. The rough, heavy bricks were our favourite!

March News

1st May 2019V Scott

Throughout March we have enjoyed our ‘Out and About’ topic. We have been learning about different types of transport and even made our own class car!

This month we also had lovely new furniture delivered and all the children are really enjoying exploring our new areas.

Within our PE lessons with Adam we have been practising our ball control and aiming at a target. We always have great fun during PE and enjoy our ‘high fives’ from Adam at the end of the session.

January News

1st May 2019V Scott

January News-Yellow Group

Our topic this half term is Winter and Winter Animals.  This month we have been identifying what types of clothes we wear when it’s cold outside and sorting Winter and Summer clothing.  We have been exploring ice and what it feels like and tried different ways to melt it.

We were all so excited when it snowed that we put on our Winter clothes and had great fun making footprints in the snow.  Lots of words were used to describe the snow like ‘It’s cold’, ‘It’s slippy! and ‘Look I’ve made footprints!’

We have had lots of fun experiences this month!

Non-Fiction Books

5th April 2019V Scott

As part of our ‘All About Animals’ work Blue Group have been writing their own non-fiction books.

The children chose an animal they would like to research, wrote questions about the animals and then used iPads to do their research.

They then created a contents, glossary and index and transferred their animal information into their booklets.

The last thing they did was design their front cover with a book title and a picture.
