Sharing Stories – World Book Day

4th March 2020A Malone

We invited parents and carers into class to listen to our favourite stories, and to share some books together. We read ‘The Smeds and the Smoos’ by Julia Donaldson, and ‘Little Rabbit Foo Foo’ by Michael Rosen, two of our favourite stories!

Everyone had fun, and the adults were really impressed with the children’s enthusiasm and love of reading. We are going to follow this up with a visit to Hebburn Central library in a few weeks time, with parents and carers also invited.

Safer Internet Day 2020

10th February 2020A Hearn

Tomorrow is Safety Internet Day and the theme is ‘exploring identity online’. This week across school we will be encouraging the children to explore how they manage their online identity, and how the internet shapes how they think of themselves and others. Safer Internet Day 2020 is all about celebrating difference and creating an inclusive internet. All children will receive a digital parenting magazine which has some useful information about maintaining a digital-life balance, sleeping vs scrolling and parental controls.

Hola!

10th February 2020A Malone

This week in Acorns we had a homework task to make a list of some of our favourite foods. We then shared these in class and compared them to foods from other countries. We explored a book all about Mexico, and learned some Spanish greetings. We also tried some Mexican themed foods and then wrote about which ones we liked and didn’t like, using some describing words. It’s been fun learning about other countries and their cultures and traditions, and comparing them to our own lives!
