We are open as usual tomorrow. The gas supply has been fixed and the heating restored! Water has been leaking into the gas pipes over a long period of time, this has flooded the pipes which affected the gas supply. A siphon has been fitted to prevent this from happening again. Apologies for the inconvenience caused,
See you all tomorrow, Thank you!
The school will be closed tomorrow due to an issue with the heating. Unfortunately we will not be able to meet the minimum required temperature of 16 degrees for children. The gas company have been trying to rectify the problem today and will be back tomorrow. We expect to reopen on Friday 26th April. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Red Group have had a great half term. We have started swimming lessons at Jarrow pool and are becoming more confident in the water. Here we are having a race across the pool!
We have had lots of fun learning about the Egyptians! At the start of our topic a tomb landed in our class, the children had to crawl through it with a torch to find the artefacts inside- avoiding a snake and tarantula along the way. In science we have been learning lots about body parts and muscles, we made our own exercise routine for movement break. We then found out about what they Egyptians used to do with the body parts for mummification. We enjoyed finding out about how they removed the brain!
Alfie exploring the tomb in class.
Travis working his muscles.
We made papyrus following instructions and decorated it with hieroglyphics.
Working as a team to mummify Livi!
March has been full of busy for Green Group! As the weather is improving, we are able to spend more time out and about. This month, we have learned about the season of Spring, and have been on walks in the local area to look for signs of Spring. March has also seen some rapid progress in our Maths work. We are getting very good at adding numbers using objects, pictorial representations and number lines. We have worked hard to develop our coin recognition skills, so that we can choose and pay for items in a shop with just a little help from adults. Thank you very much to the local shopkeepers and customers who have been very patient and friendly towards us as we practise our life skills.
Best of all, we have made fantastic progress in our interpersonal and social skills. We enjoy being together and playing together, and have recently begun to join in with group games in P.E. Check out how well we listen and focus on our learning!

Throughout March we have been working hard on a variety of non-fiction texts. We wrote our own non-fiction books about an animal and wrote our own non-chronological reports about an animal we saw on our visit to the Blue Reef Aquarium.
We had a fantastic opportunity to visit The Baltic with Purple Group and complete 2 art workshops, as well as explore the exhibition. We have also been working very hard on our ‘pop art’ in school, and created fantastic animal pictures in the style of Andy Warhol.
We have been putting lots of effort into our PE lessons with Adam, learning fantastic hockey skills and lots of children winning player of the session. As well as lots of great reading and lots of children gaining their karate reader bands – we have some children up to their orange band!
