On Thursday 23rd March, Willows celebrated World Maths Day… even the date read the same backwards as it did forwards (23.03.23)!

In English we used one of Roald Dahl’s famous stories, Esio Trot, to base our tasks upon. The children worked hard to estimate the amount of tortoises Mr. Hoppy had and then used that number in many different ways. For example, they had to represent the number pictorially, partition it and then write a maths problem using it.

In maths, they brushed up on their money skills using ‘Topmarks toy shop game’ and then went on to calculate people’s orders at The Beach Cafe.

To explore maths in art, the children created some wonderful symmetrical insect drawings.
