In this half term the children have explored at the beach project. The children have learnt about the animals that live in the sea and they have find out about seas and oceans. The children have learnt about animals that live in rock pools and on the seashore. The children have explored the importance of looking after the environment to keep living things safe.

The children have explored stories that focus on the beach, animals that live in the sea and sea voyages. The stories that we have read include; Lucy and Tom at the Seaside, Who’s Hiding at the Seaside, Tiddler, Commotion in the Ocean, Somebody Swallowed Stanley and Pirates Love Underpants. In phonics the children have continued to learn Phase 2 and Phase 3 sounds. The children have been working very hard with their handwriting practice.
In maths the children have been playing lots of mathematical games which include counting, scoring and turn taking. The children have also completed lots of addition and subtraction questions. They have also used part part whole models to understand number bonds to five.
The children have had lots of fun exploring in the sand and water pits. The children have had lots of fun moulding the sand to make their own sandcastles. The children loved exploring the rock pools and identifying animals that live there. The children also learnt about looking after the environment and were able to sort whether objects were supposed to be in the sea or not. The children had an amazing time making boats out of junk modelling and then tested their boats to see if they would sink or float.
