25th November 2022A Hutchinson

21.11.22-25.11.22

We have had a busy week in Hollies! In phonics everyone has been working really hard learning new sounds and applying their skills. In Maths we have searched the classroom for our missing toys, looking in their usual place and in unfamiliar places. We found Amy’s pencils in the doll house!

On Monday we made team flags for the world cup and even got to watch a bit of the football game. In Art this week we practiced mixing colours using rollers and folding paper with paint inside to make butterfly’s. In History we looked at timelines going all the way back to the 1950’s.

Attendance: 100%

Star of the Week: AH for for understanding other people’s emotions and knowing what his friends like. Well done!

In Phonics this week we have each learnt two new sounds. We have then segmented and blended words using those sounds. Everyone tried really hard and produced some amazing work. In maths today the children had to count the coins to work out how much each cake was.

As it was anti-bullying day on Monday, the children have been thinking about having kind hands and using their kind words. They have also been thinking about who they can talk to if they need help.

Star of the Week: IL for always having kind hands and kind words, reaching out to friends and trying hard to cheer them up. Well Done!

This week we have completed some amazing phonics work and some children have been writing the words in their new English books!

In science we completed an experiment and looked to see what happened when we made a potion. The children were fascinated when it started to fizz and foam and all found that it was smelly!
