The children have had an absolutely fantastic start to year 3!
Their topic for the autumn term is ‘Through the Ages’, this means that, so far, they have been learning all about the Stone Age. They have had so much fun with Cherries class making stone age tools and creating cave drawings.
In keeping with The Stone Age, the children have been reading ‘Stig of the Dump’ and have really enjoyed getting to know the unusual character of Stig.
They have used this book to write a character description about Stig, write a newspaper report and make their own haiku poems. The children then performed their haikus to the class. Very brave!
Science has been all about nutrition, bones and muscles. The children have engaged so well with their learning surrounding this topic and have enjoyed finding out about: the nutritional value of the foods we eat, the different skeleton types, animal skeletons and how muscles work.
In art the children have focused on colour mixing using waterolour paints. They have studied different artists’ paintings and explored the use of colour in them before going on to mix colours to create their own art pieces.
